The Desert in Modern Literature and Philosophy Wasteland Aesthetetic In his thought-provoking book, "The Desert in Modern Literature and Philosophy: Wasteland Aesthetic Aidan Tynan challenges many of the fundamental beliefs of ecocriticism and the environmental humanities by examining the function of deserts and wastelands in literature since the Romantic era. Tynan contends that the desert has been used to express worries about the cultural importance of space in the Anthropocene. He investigates how Nietzsche's remark, "the desert is growing has been adopted by Heidegger, Derrida, and Deleuze in their critiques of modernity, and how the desert has served as a terrain of longing for the Western mind's conception of space and location, from T. S. Eliot to Don DeLillo, and from colonial travel writing to postmodernism, and from the Old Testament to salvage punk. Tynan argues that the desert has been employed to articulate anxieties about the cultural importance of place in the Anthropocene.
The Desert in Modern Literature and Philosophy Wasteland Aesthetetetic В своей книге «The Desert in Modern Literature and Philosophy: Wasteland Aesthetic» Эйдан Тайнан бросает вызов многим фундаментальным убеждениям экокритизма и экологических гуманитарных наук, исследуя функцию пустынь и пустошей в литературе начиная с эпохи романтизма.
