Milestones in Green Transition and Climate Compatible Development in Eastern and Southern Africa: A Call to Action As the world grapples with the challenges posed by climate change, nowhere are these challenges more pronounced than in Africa, where two-thirds of all available land is classified either as desert or dry land. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has categorized the continent as the most vulnerable to climate change variability. In response to this crisis, the Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) has issued a call to collate evidence-based research in a bid to assess how far countries in eastern and southern Africa are implementing the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Rio+20 Agenda 21, and other global and African-wide decisions concerning the need to address climate change. This anthology is a product of that call, and it seeks to contribute to the post-2015 development agenda for sustainable development goals (SDGs) by making climate change and disaster risk reduction priority areas of focus.

Jalons de la transition verte et du développement compatible avec le climat en Afrique de l'Est et en Afrique australe : Un appel à l'action Alors que le monde lutte contre les défis liés au changement climatique, ces défis ne sont nulle part plus marqués qu'en Afrique, où les deux tiers de toutes les terres disponibles sont classées dans le désert ou la terre ferme. Groupe d'experts intergouvernemental sur l'évolution du climat (GIEC) a classé le continent parmi les plus vulnérables à la variabilité des changements climatiques. Face à cette crise, l'Organisation pour la recherche sociale en Afrique de l'Est et en Afrique australe (OSSREA) a lancé un appel à la mise en commun de la recherche scientifique pour tenter d'évaluer dans quelle mesure les pays d'Afrique de l'Est et d'Afrique australe mettent en œuvre la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques.
