The Moment Thoughts on the Race Reckoning That Wasn't and How We All Can Move Forward Now As I sit here, typing away on my computer, I am filled with a sense of urgency and purpose. The world around me is changing at a rapid pace, and it is up to us to ensure that this change is for the betterment of humanity, not just a select few. The events of the past few years have shown us that the status quo is no longer acceptable, and it is time for a reckoning. But, as we move forward, we must be mindful of the past and the lessons it has taught us. The race reckoning that wasn't, as author Bakari Sellers so poignantly puts it, refers to the lack of progress we have made as a society when it comes to addressing the systemic inequalities faced by Black people in America. Despite the protests, the outrage, and the calls for change, we are still grappling with many of the same issues that have plagued our communities for centuries. It is not enough to simply acknowledge these problems; we must take action to dismantle them. One of the key issues that Sellers highlights in his book is the inequities in healthcare, education, early childhood education, and policing.
The Moment Thoughts on the Race Reckoning That Was Was not and How We All Can Move Forward Now
