Long Description of the Plot: The Empress of China is a historical novel that delves into the life of Wu Zetian, the only woman to ever rule China in her own right, as she rises from being a lowly concubine to becoming the most powerful woman in the empire. Born in the 7th century AD, Wu Zetian was born into a poor family and was sold into slavery at a young age. She eventually became a concubine of the emperor, but her intelligence and cunning quickly propelled her to become his favorite, and eventually, his empress. Through her wit and ambition, she gains the trust of the emperor and becomes the de facto ruler of the empire, implementing policies that would change the course of Chinese history forever. As the novel progresses, Wu Zetian's journey is filled with political intrigue, romance, and betrayal. She must navigate the treacherous waters of palace politics, where alliances are forged and broken with ease, and where the slightest misstep can lead to death or exile. Despite these challenges, Wu Zetian perseveres, using her intelligence and strategic thinking to outmaneuver her opponents and secure her place as empress. One of the central themes of The Empress of China is the need to study and understand the process of technological evolution.
