Bad Habits, Hard Choices: Using the Tax System to Make Us Healthier In today's society, consumers in Britain face a complex web of taxes and duties that are not only opaque but also unfairly distributed. The poorer you are, the more of your income goes towards paying these taxes, while the wealthy tend to bear less of the burden. At the same time, we are constantly bombarded with one-sided marketing information that promotes unhealthy foods, contributing to the obesity crisis. In his book, Bad Habits, Hard Choices, David Fell takes a fresh look at these issues using insights from behavioral economics and his twenty-five year research career. He argues that there is a fair, inclusive, adaptable, and resilient way to enable us to eat healthily and tackle the obesity crisis.
