The Mitsubishi A5M4 A5M2 Claude was a fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Navy during World War II. The aircraft was designed and manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and first entered service in 1938. It was a single-seat, single-engine fighter that was powered by a Nakajima Sakae engine and had a top speed of 320 km/h. The A5M4 was armed with two 7. 7mm machine guns and could carry up to 250 kg of bombs or rockets. The aircraft had a range of 1,600 km and a ceiling of 9,000 m. The A5M4 was an evolution of the earlier A5M2 Claude, which was also known as the "Pete". The A5M4 had several improvements over the A5M2, including increased power from the more powerful Sakae engine, improved maneuverability, and better visibility for the pilot. The aircraft was highly regarded by its pilots for its exceptional handling characteristics and firepower. However, it was vulnerable to enemy fighters due to its lack of armor protection and weak defensive weapons. Despite its limitations, the A5M4 played an important role in Japan's early military campaigns during World War II, particularly in China and Southeast Asia.
